First and quickly, an announcement for our new website! It’s fresh and it’s clean.

As our team grows and horizons expand, I’d like to take a moment to recognize the awesome organizations we work with. PRCPTION Travel wouldn’t be developing in the direction it is if it weren’t for the support of the following groups who believe in the overarching mission of people coming together.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with a few of them!

Cure CRPS Foundation is bringing hope and build a community of both doctors & patients around the world, raising awareness and efforts to find a cure. From its website:

“CURE CRPS Foundation was created to raise awareness of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) aka RSD, compile and conduct research to update the diagnostic criteria and staging of the disease, and identify and develop best practices and protocols to ultimately find a cure.

CRPS is a disease of the Sympathetic System and the medical community has changed its name more than 22 times since it was discovered in the 1800s by a physician working with soldiers in the battlefield. CURE CRPS seeks to raise awareness of the disease both inside and outside of the medical filed and find a cure for even late stage disease patients.”

PRCPTION Travel has had its hands in Cure CRPS’ story in several ways; thus far, most notably with the Shepherds of Aloha’s custom-made theme song to the Cure CRPS movement:

Humandalas is a guided group movement meditation available in both card game and app form. It brings a group of any size together to share intentions and presence by forming hand mandala shapes and offering the group’s energy to a greater purpose, to something bigger than the individual self.

“HuMandalas are enjoyable, enlightening and accessible to people of any background, in particular those with interest in sound therapy/toning, sacred art, conscious movement, massage, meditation, & new age thought.”

We’ve been exploring the newly-released Humandalas to make fun media of people coming together:

Make sure to download the Humandalas app on iPhone or Android!

Creativity Advocacy is actually the life work of my mother, a creativity-nurturing soul inside and out. Often enough in this world, I think it’s safe to assume that most of us often forget about the importance of being creative. We all create in different manners and sometimes the term “creativity” gets lost amidst the ideas of visual art or music–when really, creative forces are what create the very world around us!

“We promote Creativity as a force to help humans interact with their own individual process and in turn contribute to the whole of culture. We perform seminars, interactive workshops, provide private CREATIVIST training for projects as well as offer certification for coaches.”

Suffice to say, we support Creativity Advocacy’s efforts to encourage EVERYONE to be discover their own creative force and allow the world to enjoy it.

Are you or your organization interested in collaborating in a win-win-win fashion? Let’s talk! Check out our brand-new community page!

With each of the aforementioned friends/partners/collaborators, we eagerly await the release of our Live PRCPTION platform to support these awesome organizations in building their global communities using digital media.

(Speaking of which–this week we’re breaking ground with the development on our backend API and database, setting the stage to create unique mapsets showcasing media of different global communities and put them on any website, anywhere. But more on that next time!)

Moving Onward!

Active Participation

In a time when we have so many options for spending our attention, human connection seems to be so often simulated right in front of our eyes. Movie characters, Instagram stories, etc. may make us feel close to a character, yet it’s not quite tangible enough to feel the fulfillment of a proper human interaction. It’s a very passive, simulated experience that doesn’t feel so… wholesome?

I imagine that if everyone actively participated just a little bit in the shaping of a new digital world–even just by choosing to use different software, or choosing to be exposed to a certain lens of information–then we’d all feel a lot more empowered and thus a lot more collectively stoked.

But more on this as you scroll down.

Welcome to the Team!

As the mission to take back ownership of our digital connectivity continues to spread, it becomes more & more clear that there are many of us from all different circles out there striving to achieve a similar vision. Here’s a few of them that happened to offer their energy into the PRCPTION Travel circle:

Karim Alharazin is the man behind our beautiful new demo website platform. Hailing from Palestine, he is a freelance computer engineer that works primarily in the healthcare field. He is excited to be a part of the Crowsourced PRCPTION project, knowing that people around the world will take benefit from it.

A full-stack developer, Cameron Sajedi is a scientist with a computing background and an interest in bio-inspired blockchain and DLT technologies. In his free time he enjoys traveling, especially road trips to natural wonders ripe for landscape photography.

Sara Cousineau is passionate about living a life of connection, discovery, and service. After 5 years of experience in the corporate world as a CA/CPA, she has shifted her focus to living her best life and supporting others. Her education in holistic nutrition, yoga, and bodywork, combined with her international corporate and non-profit experience provides a unique perspective that facilitates the creation of innovative, sustainable solutions.

John Scalia Jr. is a West Point Graduate in Systems Engineering & Philosophy but has been a Hollywood Comedian and Creator since 2005. He spent his 20’s working for visionaries intent on destroying global communities, so he decided to spend his 40’s working with visionaries intent on creating global communities.

Want to get to know the rest of the team?

With his experience in both physical and metaphysical systems and infrastructures, John has joined the project as resident “Future Directors Producer,” supporting the initiative with his professional perspective.

Here’s his take on how PRCPTION Travel ought to function:

There is a lot that can theoretically come from this. We envision a platform that enables local NGOs, charities, low-budget organizations, or anyone to create their own digital media communities with their global members submitting personalized clips that collectively strengthen their mission. Any community or cause could be observed as both an interactive map of involved persons and testimonial/experiential media of the cause itself.

But it doesn’t stop there!

Video Submissions on Mobile

Along with this community-generating platform, we’re building a mobile app to support people like you in sharing their stories in a cohesive manner that doesn’t require you to be a fancy video editor. If you’ve got something to say, or perhaps a community or cause out there to support, simply follow steps 1-2-3 and your video will automatically show up on the community map of your choosing.

Sharing Our PRCPTION

Greetings friends and family, nomads and artists, creators and visionaries!

I’d like to welcome you to our first issue of the PRCPTION Travel newsletter, where we share some of our latest community-building videos. Many supporters of the project happen to stay away from modern social networking platforms, (where we host & share most of our media), so I realized it was finally time to establish a digital tool for connecting our smiling faces and projects.

In this edition, we’ll re-familiarize you with PRCPTION Travel’s smiling media mission, give you a glimpse at our recent trip to Western and Southern Africa, and introduce the new #SmilesFiles awareness-building campaign.

 📢 Our Mission 🌐

For too long has mass media dominated what we learn about the world: we see terrorism, we see fear, we see separation; but what about the healthy collaborations? What about the people working together to make this world a better place? We see disconnection between people and government, but we aren’t presented to the actual community-builders. We learn about celebrity scandals but we aren’t always introduced to the local artists. Even in our day & age of globalized internet, there’s a missing link.

After a few years of experimentation, PRCPTION Travel is officially aiming to fill that gap between people and media on a mass scale. Let’s be the source of information through which we learn about the world. Let’s remove ourselves from corporate filter bubbles and tell our own stories.

Digital media is a very powerful & accessible tool to share the smiles (not the fear!), so that’s what we’re doing. We’re developing a global media network that shares the real human narrative with those all around us–for the people, by the people.

The world is a big place, full of even bigger hearts, and one small team couldn’t broadcast them all in a single lifetime. But by joining together as global citizens to share the quick experiences that make life great, maybe we could indeed take a few steps closer to perceiving past our imaginary borders, our ideologies and the mental walls we sometimes we forget we still have.

Read our official mission statement!

🌍 Moronou, Cote d’Ivoire 👁

To illustrate this point, we invite you to take a look at our latest 5-part web series, #Moronou. Invited to document & share the economic issues of the West African region this summer, it wasn’t too difficult to see that the inner joy of these people easily out-shines our external conception of “poverty.”

Now we ask ourselves: what can we learn from this?

For more information or contact leads for development projects in the region, don’t hesitate to respond to this e-mail!

😁 #SmilesFiles 😁

PRCPTION Travel is opening up its media production network to a new era of community builders: we want you to share your own techniques, experiences, and perspectives on life to broadcast to the rest of the world!

Just take some shots with your smartphone, of any inspiring event or experience—no fancy camera, editing, or budget required—and then you can either submit the footage to us for free editing (donations appreciated (http://www.youcaring.com/perception) !), or simply post it to your favorite social media platform with the hashtag #SmilesFiles.

Each few weeks, we’ll take the most enlivening, inspiring, activating #SmilesFiles and compile them into montage videos to share the human narrative—together, peer-to-peer, decentralized. By exposing ourselves to ourselves, we connect!

I hope you’ve found something in this message inspiring, and I hope you’ll join us in this #SmilesFiles endeavor to connect the world as a more peaceful dwelling for humans.

The only way to move forward is to realize that we’re all in this together, and we can show it with digital video.

😄 Let’s be the change we wish to see (literally)! 🚀
